Emergency Preparedness for your Vehicle?

Whether you’re visiting the in-laws for a holiday dinner, out for a camping trip with your kids, even just commuting to work, it’s never a good time to be stranded on the side of the road. The Ondik Agency is here to help protect what matters, so we want to help you build a roadside emergency kit you can rely on during those tough situations.

After reviewing Ready.gov, the National Safety Council, the American Red Cross, and just what we here in the office keep in the car, we’ve compiled a master list of what you might want to include when you’re building your roadside emergency kit.

  • spare tire, wheel wrench, and jack

  • jumper cables

  • multipurpose tool

  • phone charger

  • flashlight

  • first aid kit

  • nonperishible foods

  • water

  • duct tape

  • local maps

  • blankets

  • paper and pen

  • hand sanitizer

  • disinfecting wipes

  • change of clothing

  • feminine supplies

  • weather related items

    • ice scraper

    • umbrella

    • sunblock

    • bug spray

  • pet food (if you have pets)

And of course, we always recommend keeping a hard copy of your insurance card with the numbers for roadside assistance. Most roadside assistance calls take less than an hour to show up and get you out of the jam. Before heading out on a long trip, review your insurance policy to make sure you’ll be covered if something happens. We’re here to help protect what matters, and that means you.

If there’s anything you think we should add to this list, shoot us a message!
